Moroccan Days and Arabian Nights

Moroccan_days_shawl
Golden lights skims azure bay,
Dense air heavy with laurel.
Windless dusk smears to night,
Sonorous pool in a sheltered grove.

Deng Ming Dao

The rest of the verse goes on to say, that though this world is turbulent, there are still days and places where we can be afforded some tranquility.  Renewal is a profound tonic.  With sanctuary and rest, we can prepare to go forth again.

Arabian_nights_2 Interestingly, I was only looking for a verse that would lend some color to these shawls, but when I read the verse, I took away so much more.  Some times we all need a little bit of tranquility in our lives to help us appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

Susan has finished the pattern for this stunning shawl!  The lacework is so intricate and incredibly beautiful.  The talent that the girls who design these patterns never ceases to amaze me!

Give me any pattern and I can knit it, but ask me to design even an edging on my own and my brain freezes.....feels like a math problem.  You know what I mean....if a train is traveling 500 miles an hour....ya, that kind of math problem.

The kit is available on my website in these 2 colorways.  Custom colorways are welcome, but will take a little bit longer.

Honey_bee_stole As much as I would like to join the KA for Moroccan Days, I am working on my beloved Bee, so I will have to catch up later.

Bee has my full attention now that SPA has come and gone.  I really really love this shawl.  The pattern is so easy to follow along with....another shawl with a relaxing rhythm.  Who knew I would love purling through the back loop so much...not me...but I do!

Spunky_roving Speaking of Spa, I was unusually well behaved in my purchases.  The only thing that came home with me was this lovely roving from Amy of Spunky Eclectic .  Ummm.....do you see a trend in what I like to work with?

Gah! Gorgeous! If only I could toss everything aside and cast on for that shawl! The golden colorway is calling me!

As always - gorgeous!

But wait!!!!! Are those BEADS along the edges of the shawl?? WoW!

I have to have that shawl! It's gorgeous! I talked about you, just today, with the owner of the Purl Diva in Brunswick, Maine. She was telling me about the ladies from the Spa, and your name was mentioned. I said I knew you! I didn't know the Spa was in Freeport this year!!! I wish someone would have mentioned that it was. I only live about an hour from there. I hate that I know it was so close, and I didn't know. Did you find the other shop in Brunswick, as well?

just georgeous! wow.

oh wow the shawls are gorgeous . . thank you for sharing them!

what a lovely new kit you have put together. Your colors combined with the lace are just perfect!!

The new kit is beautiful - the pattern with your lovely hand-dyed is just stunning together! I'm very tempted! ;)

I had already found those new patterns and queued em up in Ravelry! Gorgeous!

Gorgeous shawls! Your yarn shows well in these patterns.

The shawls are stunning!

It's beautiful! Next time I have some extra yarn money...

I bought some Spunky roving in a similar (same?) color. It's kind of funny, because while these are "your" colors, I bought it specifically because it's NOT my normal colors.

What a gorgeous design! And I love both of the colorways. (Good old Tupelo Honey!) I'm tempted, I really am.

The pattern is gorgeous and perfectly compliments the yarn. I tend to go in color cycles too -- everything I bought at Spa goes with "Arabian Nights"!!

What an incredible pattern! WOW! You know, I was thinking that if it were knit with a thicker yarn, that'd make an awesome bed-cover, too. What do you think? Is it knit with fingering/lace weight yarn right now?

Congrats on having such a lovely design in your collection!

I agree the shawls are beautiful even though I don't knit lace yet. Do you have any idea when McGregor's Garden will be ready? What can I say, I am not ready for the glory of lace!

You find such perfect words for each post. Ah, purl back row...how I love you! LOL

What a lovely verse! I'm just knitting the last edging on Simurgh and then I think I'm going back to the bee stole while I wait for this incredible kit. The combination of Susan's design and your colorways are absolutely stunning.

The new kit is gorgeous. I'm so glad you're working on Bee again!
