Look ma........soap! One of the other things that I managed to squeeze in this weekend was making a batch of soap. I used to make a lot of soap, but somehow it has been one of the things that has fallen to the way side a bit. Remember when I told you that Robin was a giver....well, she was kind enough to point me in a new direction with soaping. The ingredients are the same, but the process is a bit different and of course, I am always eager to try new things, so out came all the old pots and utensils.
My first batch came out........well.........not so great, and sadly I had to toss it, but I am very happy with the second batch of Rosewood Geranium...wheee... With fall fairs around the corner, it will be fun to get in touch with the soaper deep inside of me again :-)
On another topic............did you see that knit picks is offering 40% off of most of their books? It's a great time to pick up those titles you have been wanting!

One day I may experiment with making soap. I think it's something I would enjoy. I like the look of the square bars. Bet they smell good.

The soap looks great!! I made a batch tonight - Oak, Orange, & Oats and Southern Magnoia. Also, put labels on a batch of Lemon Drop. Now that you've gotten the bug, you won't be able to quit! Enjoy!

I love handmade soaps. Sometimes I love them so much I don't want to use them, if that makes any sense at all.

If it smells as good as your hand cream, it's wonderful.

Soap's one thing I haven't gotten into yet. Is it hard to make?
I did see the Knitpicks sale, but they're pretty well picked over by now.

I loved the soap you'd sent with a batch of my fiber once. So fragrant and fantastic!

Looks great! I used to do a bit of soaping, but not with lye. I mostly did the melt and pour stuff, but it was fun. Unfortunately, my supplier in Utah got VERY expensive with shipping charges, so I had to give it up. I'm keeping all my supplies thinking it will be a fun thing to do with my grandsons when they are a bit older. What was different about your technique?
