Yeah, I promised myself for my birthday I would lose 30 pounds in the next year.

So far, I've gained three....

This post really hit home with me -- some friendships just ebb and flow and well I understand it, it's still sad. You know -- you are SO beautiful, both outside and inside. But, I'm with you on the weight loss. My 30s were a decade of kids and gain. So, I'm with you on moving forward to healthier selves.

You seem to have a positive, balanced view of friends and life and self. I'm here to cheer you on as you go through the process of both kinds of loss. Losing wt is such a positive move in one's life.

I also hate to see pics of myself. I'm organizing family pictures from the last six years, and I can count on one hand how many there are of me. But your picture is beautiful! Before I took my blogging break I had put on weight as well. I made a real effort to spend less time in front of the computer (blogs), and more time on the treadmill and exercising. It's taking time, but I figure it took time to accumulate as well. Good luck!

Hey there Kim. I'm very proud of you. I have spent a lifetime struggling with weight, and it will always be a challange for me. Good for you for pursuing health even without your old friend...you are right...you have many many new encouragers in your life! And perhaps you have even motivated me a bit ;) I'll be cheering for you!

I know how hard it is to lose weight. I have lost 40lbs. over the past two years. My goal was to lose 80 lbs., but then reality set in. I'm over 40 and have had three kids! I just have to watch my portion sizes and make better choices. It is hard during the holidays. I'll keep you in my thoughts!!

I was so happy to put a face with the blog-voice when you put up the picture! Most of all, I noticed the lovely hand-knits, the smile, and the sweet way you held your puppy. We can be our own worst critics - I hate pictures of myself too and see only the negative. I thought it was a great picture...good luck with with your new healthy plan!

Kim, that is very brave of you! I am heavier than ever these days, and while it could be worse, it could be better! I know several other bloggers who are actively working to lose some weight and I think "going public" can be a good motivator.

Best of luck with it!

Beautiful yarn, too.

Good for you! And I'll make a deal with you. I'll encourage you and you encourage me. How's that?

I hear you, Kim! My excuse for not often knitting garments for myself is "I'll wait until I lose weight, or it'll be too big!"
Maybe I should stop talking about losing weight and just do it already!

We're all in this together, sweetie. You've got my support.

I love that yarn. Great colors. :D

As for friends, they come and go sometimes. That's okay. It's sad, but it's okay. In this life you will lose some friends and gain new ones. The process is painful, but often necessary. They will change, and you will change because life is change. From time to time they must find their own way, and that way may not be yours. Enjoy them for what they are. And remember them for what they were.

We're here for you, Kim! Good luck in your endeavors - when you do things for the right reasons (ie, when you want it and when you do it for yourself), the journey is somewhat easier.

Thank you for showing the "as is" and reskeined yarns. The difference is always remarkable. I especially like the color combination of the pink and gold.

Many friends do come and go which is often sad. It's very nice when you can replace them with many! Putting weight on...more wrinkles on an older face, whatever the change, it is difficult to face ourselves at times. Good luck!
Your yarn is so pretty! Nice work.
