Of Mice and Balls.......
Hmm........I bet that caught your attention.......
Do you not just love this little woolen mouse?? If you click on the
picture, you can see her little shawl and her knitting needles busy at
work. Hannah loves Julie of Kick the Moon's
creations and asked her if she would make something for me, unbeknownst
to me. It took me a little while to notice the little white mouse with
the curly pink tale perched on my pumpkin....LOL. Too cute!!!
On to ......"bunny balls", as we fondly call our rovings here. One of the things that I struggle with at any fiber event where a lot of children attend with their families, is felted roving. Children can not resist hugging and squeezing those bunny balls....so I usually end up having to recard some of it when I get home, which is a pain. So I thought and thought, as I didn't want to place the rovings so high that no one could see them, nor did I want to deny the children the experience of handling wonderful fiber, as children are so fascinated by all of what we do at these events. Hmmm......a bowl full of bunny balls just for squeezing ;-). It was amazing, the kids just seemed to gravitate to that bowl, leaving the rest of the rovings alone........too funny!
Speaking of children, Hannah really enjoyed her weekends at the fair. Susan Mills, was generous enough to spend some one on one time with Hannah, teaching her how to felt a little handbag.
It is so nice to see one of my children, genuinely interested in learning more about fiber and all the different things that can be created from just a little sheep's wool.
My one treat.....well, if you don't count the box of angora that I scooped up
was this wonderful bag from Susan. I just loved the way the colors just bled into each other. We spent some time chatting about how it is done and I wanted to be able to remember.........and I LOVE it!! Susan is such a talented lady for sure!
And finally, the ribbons....the final tally was 5 blues, 2 reds and one yellow. It has been a wonderful fair and it was so nice to see that all of the work that I did over the last year measured up against my peers. Hmmm..............now I have to think about what I want to knit for next year ;-)
Have a great day!! (I am writing at night, but we all know that bloglines will not see it until tomorrow......haha!!!)
~Ciao~

Great job to Hannah on the bag! I love the bunny balls idea, Kim. Very thoughtful. Your cards are fantastic too. Why am I not surprised to see a bunch of ribbons? It's obvious you put a lot of love and care into your products. Wish I could have been there. Soon....

That mouse is so cute! You're a very thoughtful vendor to put out the bunny balls. While on one hand I honestly wish my girls could go to Rhinebeck ... the other hand is raised in a victory fist at the thought of four days alone! Hope to see you there.
